Bio and Research Interests

As part of the research staff at RAEL's CoolClimate network, Hazel is building the Local Government Decision Support Tool. This system aids California local governments in assessing their footprints, prioritizing actions, building climate action plans and tracking progress over time.

She has developed an exceptional skill set from a wide range of work experience along with a rare combination of studies in both technical and social fields. Her areas of expertise include web development, international relations, database management, user interface design, international literature, graphic design, carbon footprint analysis and sustainable community development.

In her free time Hazel has pursued fencing, running, welding, blogging, cooking, sewing and other crafts. She is also a passionate advocate of open source software, linked data and best practices for ensuring equal access to public information on the web.
